What a day.

Wednesday the 25th January 2012 will go down for the Cycling Cerebellums as one of the best day's since the CC's conception. It was truly the most humbling of experiences for our riders and to see where all our fundraising efforts  were going to made each of us extremely proud and honoured.

Upon arrival at the hospital we all met up with Angie from the Fundraising Dept. The history of the hospital was explained to us as well as how all the wards got their unique names. As we made our way up to the Commercial Travellers Ward you could feel the excitement building within the group of cyclists. It means so much to us to get to see the ward we are fundraising for and to meet the nursing staff, children and families.
Upon entering the ward we met the Nursing Unit Manager Fiona. What an amazing and knowledgeable woman. You can see that that ward is her heart and soul and she enjoys what she does from the core. She told about every room and the types of conditions that were treated within the ward. About how being a nurse on the ward takes a great deal of care and knowledge.
You could tell how much she cares for each and every single one of those patients and their families and how their well being is the most important thing for her. When we made it to the far end of the ward we were shown the room that contains 6 beds - some of which contained cameras and equipment for EEG's. Each child who was brought in for Epilepsy studies was video'd during their stay for information pertaining to their form of epilepsy. The ward is at the forefront of Epilepsy surgery and our fundraising efforts will be going towards this. How exciting is that? We are terribly excited.

During our time on the ward we met this amazing young chap. Despite all that he had been through over the last 9 weeks he still had this amazing spark. Makes you realise how lucky we really are.
We are hoping to catch up with Kye on our way to Melbourne as he lives not far from our route. Your a real trooper Kye. We look forward to catching up with you soon and hope your feel better real soon.

We left the hospital on such a high - feeling very proud of who we are and what we stand for. Before departing we left the ward a special gift on the CC's behalf.
We look forward to coming back again just before we leave and catching up with you all again. It was an absolute honour and pleasure to be associated with you all.
The Cycling Cerebellums love rolling with the
Commercial Travellers Ward.
